Doctorate studies

Doctoral study programs are organized in accordance with the requirements of the Higher Education Law 80/2015 and all other sub-legal acts in its implementation. The doctoral study program is included in the third cycle of university studies, at the end of which a diploma for the scientific degree “DOCTOR” is issued.
Doctoral studies aim to promote scientific research, oriented towards deepening, reconceptualizing and reintegration of scientific knowledge in the research areas covered by the Departments of the Faculty of History and Philology.
At the foundation of doctoral studies is scientific research and independent creative activity, as the basis for the preparation of the DOCTORAL THESIS, necessary for obtaining the degree of "Doctor" and the connection with research projects of the Departments or the Faculty of History and Philology.

THE APPLICANT MUST MEET THESE CRITERIA

  • Studies for the scientific degree "doctor" are conducted full-time at the department or on an extended basis, in those cases when the doctoral student is employed as academic staff at another higher education institution or as research staff at a basic or applied research institution, at higher education institutions of the "university" or "academy" type.
  • Have completed higher education and hold a second-cycle degree "Master of Science"/"Master of Arts"; an integrated second-level diploma, or a diploma according to the old system or an equivalent academic title, obtained abroad and recognized by the competent authorities;
  • Have high results in first and second cycle studies, according to the definitions of the relevant department;
  • To have defended one of the foreign languages: English, French, Italian, German or Spanish, in accordance with the levels provided for in Instruction No. 52, dated 03.12.2015 “On determining the levels of foreign languages ​​and international tests, for admissions to second and third cycle study programs in higher education institutions”, as amended;
  • Have two recommendations from persons holding the scientific title of "Professor" or "Associate Professor" who recognize the candidate's academic and professional skills;

In addition to the criteria provided above, the basic units in their doctoral study program regulations may also determine other additional criteria, which may be related to the research and scientific skills of the applicants.
